Following the traditional format of a Buddhist philosophical college for higher education, Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche opened the 2015 Shedra with teachings on the progressive stages of the path called the Rinchen Drönme: The Precious Lamp.
Students also attended additional courses which included Pranayama yoga with Ven. Acarya Namdrol Gyatso, The Art of Tibetan Medicine with Dr. Shakya Dorje and Kyudo (the Japanese art of the bow) with Sensei Ken Rawie. Training in traditional Tibetan debate took place on several evenings.
The consecration of the new sangha retreat building, Tashi Chö Dzong, had taken place only days before the start of the Shedra and spirits were high. On July 28th the Mindrolling worldwide sangha celebrated the the 1st birthday of Minling Dungse Rinpoche. The sangha had the immense good fortune to hold the a joyous celebration with Rinpoche and his family, while in residence at Lotus Garden. HE Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche arrived on the 28th and joined the celebrations. In the days that followed, His Eminence continued his cycle of teachings on Buddha Nature from the Mahayana Uttaratantra Shastra.
On August 2nd, as the Shedra concluded, HE Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche kindly led the ceremony of purification and blessing of the site of the future temple, thus bringing the 2015 Shedra to a memorable conclusion.
