Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche is the eldest daughter of Kyabje Minling Trichen Gyurme Künzang Wangyal, the 11th throne holder of the renowned Mindrolling Lineage. Mindrolling is one of the six main lineages of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism and is renowned as the pure source of teachings and practices within the Nyingma School. Throughout its history, Mindrolling has had many accomplished female masters known as the Mindrolling Jetsüns who have been accomplished teachers and practitioners who have played pivotal roles in the flourishing and preservation of the Dharma. At the age of two, Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche was recognized by His Holiness the 16th Karmapa as the re-incarnation of the Great Dakini of Tsurphu, Ugyen Tsomo, one of the most renowned masters of her time. Thus, Rinpoche holds the lineages of both the Nyingma and the Kagyu schools.
Today, Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche is one of the most renowned teachers of Tibetan Buddhism. Rinpoche’s vast dharma activities span the globe and are completely dedicated to benefiting beings through the Dharma. Rinpoche is actively involved in the administration and training of monks at Mindrolling Monastery in Dehradun, India. In 1993, Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche and her sister, Minling Jetsün Dechen Paldrön, founded Samten Tse Retreat Center in Mussoorie, India as a place of study and retreat for both nuns and western practitioners. Rinpoche has been teaching western students in many countries since the early 1990s and has established many Mindrolling dharma centers, study groups, and associations in the West. Minling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche and Minling Jetsün Dechen Paldrön founded Mindrolling Lotus Garden in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, USA in 2003. In addition, through the Mindrolling International Charitable Projects, Rinpoche provides a variety of different types of assistance to those in the most need in the Himalayan region. Mindrolling International’s activities include support for monks, nuns, and the elderly, providing medical care, digging wells, building infrastructure, supporting animal shelters, and many more activities.
